Welcome to the Lohans research group in the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences at Queen’s University, Canada! We use biochemical and microbiological approaches to study antibiotics and antibiotic resistance mechanisms. Undergraduate and graduate students interested in biochemistry, microbiology, and chemistry research are encouraged to get in contact.


June 18, 2020: Thanks to NSERC for awarding us a Discovery Grant, supporting our work on understanding bacterial resistance mechanisms against carbapenem antibiotics!

June 2, 2020: We are grateful to the NRC for awarding our team (Deep Biologics and Queen’s University team members Drs. Colpitts, Crudden, Escobedo, and Sheth) an Innovative Solutions Canada grant.
